found here . The title of
this dual portrait speaks to the question of the self and it is meant to
represent a moment of self discovery. The figure pictured here has just opened
her eyes and we are seeing her transform, or dissolve. She understands who she
is becoming and peers back at us as if to ask if we are ready. The double
portrait represents her complex personality and her confident gaze suggests
that she has already said goodbye.
