A lot of people have said to me that this piece appears to be a metaphor of giving birth. I see that as a possible interpretation. This piece is a self portrait and a direct manipulation and distortion of my face. It’s that simple. However, since you asked… I see this piece as a metaphor for the constant push/pull and tug at our being. The pressures of life, hidden and unseen.
