5″ x 6″ – Oil on Aluminum
Hands play a huge role in my work. They are an aesthetic device used to bring movement and feeling to my compositions and the subjects I am depicting. As such, its important for me to do studies of hands for the purpose of improving my skills while simultaneously exploring new and experimental processes. I explain why I paint hands in my FAQ and my post titled: Painting Hands.
This colorful oil painting of a fist is a part of a new series I am working on. My intent is to create a wall of twenty to fifty paintings of only hands. Each painting will be an experiment and allow me to try new colors, compositions and mediums. It’s important that I foster, within me, the artist’s mindset for play and exploration.
